This summer children in Furzedown Primary School in Wandsworth took part in a challenging competition for the best local cycle route.
First they learnt how to identify safe cycling routes and explored maps of the local area. They were then invited to design their own maps which would direct others to a location of interest.
I am very pleased to announce that the winner of the Furzedown Cycle Route Competition is Ngaire Mcfadyen with her map of a route leading from Furzedown School to Balham Leisure Centre through Tooting Bec Common. We felt that her map was the most accurate and original.
I am also delighted to present the excellent works of the four runners up – Eve Rucki, Fajr Jalal, Alex Boon and Ruby Louise Ahern.
All five children received Sustrans goodie bags and Ngaire, as the overall winner, was rewarded with a set of bike lights to keep her way bright when cycling in autumn and winter.
Congratulations to the winners and big thanks to all the children who put so much effort into this competition!
